The gathering of some one million plus Brazilians unsatisfied with the incumbent government took place in São Paulo, Paulista avenue, the financial center and place of gathering for political protest.
Unlike many other protests, this was completely free of violence with middle aged people wearing the Brazilian soccer team jerseys covered up the wide and long avenue.
The news outlets supporting the government dismiss the number of people claiming it to be just a couple of hundred thousand people, but the images show that the number was much more .
More important than the dispute for the number of today´s gathering is the expected response from the current president, who will be required to respond with a comparable mobilization on the May 1st, the Labor Day in Brazil.
Failing to gather at least a portion of the number of the people today will be a humiliating failure for a government that was elected by promising the returns to the good times of commodity exports boom of ten years ago, but until now have failed to fire up the economy.
The ex-president Jair Bolsonaro had a plain discourse and kept his tone peaceful, for there are threats of him being jailed if offending the justices that are evaluating his pledges at the Brazilian Supreme Court – The Superior Tribunal Federa.
