The Republican primaries are closing to a non-end. One candidate that has yet to win any of the caucus refuses to give in and the primaries will continue until Super Tuesday.
Former President Trump has won the South Carolina Republican presidential primary by a difference of 20 percentage points in the home state of former governor Nikki Haley, according to Fox.
“It’s an early evening and a fantastic evening,” Trump told a crowd of supporters gathered at the South Carolina state fairgrounds in Columbia, the state capitol, just minutes after polls closed and he was declared the victor. “Celebrate for 15 minutes, but then we have to get back to work,” he added, referencing next week’s Michigan primary, and Super Tuesday the following week.
The problem now is what are the next steps.
The chances that Haley will turn the tide are minimal and the most likely outcome is that she is going to alienate the Republican party by pushing the dispute even when she does not have the possibility of winning.
The alternative thought is that Nikki Haley is on her own strategy, believing that the Democrats will be successful in their indictments of former president Trump and he for this or for some other cause will be unable to run for the presidency.
A worst scenario is that Haley actually decide to run as an independent, given that plenty of democrats contributors are giving her the funds necessary to campaign against Trump. The cost of this movement is not going to hurt only the Republicans. Democrats alike will have the never Trump votes transferred from Joe Biden to Haley.
